The workshop is intended for students, researchers, and faculty members interested in financial markets, empirical finance, market microstructure, and data-driven market research. Participants are expected to be familiar with R programming for working with data.
Objective. The workshop is designed to provide participants with a rigorous introduction to NSE market structure, the organisation of NSE Data & Analytics Limited (NDAL), equity derivatives data, and empirical measures of market quality, liquidity, and regulation-relevant trading behaviour.
The session provides the conceptual and institutional foundation: NSE equity derivatives design, the structure of NDAL historical files, the conversion of message-level data into research variables, and the evolution of regulation relating to algorithmic trading and market surveillance. The session also includes an applied cloud-based laboratory component, enabling participants to work with NDAL high-frequency data, with a focus on bid-ask spreads, market depth, order flow, liquidity metrics, and the practical understanding of option Greeks (Delta, Gamma, Vega, Theta, and Rho).
